| The AGV
was integrated with a robot to do the welding. This removed the
operators from the hazards of welding. The AGV system was chosen over
a mechanical conveyors system because of its flexibility including the
ability to easily modify the system as |

A
manufacturer of heavy equipment with two plant locations in North
Dakota wanted to upgrade their current AGV system. The old system was
used today to carry heavy parts and partially assembled product down
an assembly line.
The new system would need to integrate with the old system that was
still operating efficiently. Transbotics worked with the customer to
determine the best material handling solution. The AGVs would be used
throughout the supply chain process (preproduction, production and
finished goods).
While all AGV installations are custom, standard Transbotics software
is easily adaptable to give maximum flexibility in controlling the
AGVs and making changes in the system as needed.
Transbotics determined that the customer could greatly benefit from
the use quad steer technology, which allowed the vehicles to move
forwards, backwards and 90 degrees to either side. Through the use of
quad movement the vehicle could operate in a much smaller space than
with single-steer drive.
The result was a comprehensive solution that integrated 66 vehicles to
automate a manufacturer and increase both production and safety. This
is just one more example of how Transbotics is Moving Your Business |
