LEAD ELECTRICAL & CONTROLS ENGINEER

Transbotics, an Automation Solutions Integrator, is seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and a minimum of 8 years project engineering experience. Experience preferred in the AGV, automation or material handling industry with experience creating electrical designs and documentation for AGVs and robotic transportation equipment. This position requires an organized and self-motivated problem solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  REQUIREMENTS:

 PROJECT LEADER

  • Manage and assign work within the electrical design team to satisfy project schedules
  • Identify areas for improvement in design development; manage and direct efforts
  • Contribute to proper review and vetting of potential new electrical technologies and components
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and methodology in electrical design
  • Review electrical designs for completeness and accuracy before release to production
  • Interface with sales, mechanical design, system applications and production groups as necessary to support business goals

 ELECTRICAL DESIGN:

  • Lead electrical design effort on assigned projects
  • Design and produce electrical drawings & Bill of Material for project component electrical systems (AGVs, stationary control cabinets).
  • Redesign / update / improve existing electrical designs
  • Specify electrical components to be used in AGV systems.
  • Design and analyze electrical systems including battery packs & lifecycle expectancy.
  • PLC programming, design, and component specification.
  • Specify AC and DC motor as needed

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical ((Promis-E, EPlan, Solidworks Electrical)
  • Experience with AutoCad, Promis-E and/or EPlan
  • Experience with PCB design, development, and production.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications (including MS Project)
  • Understanding of agency compliance NEC, NFPA, UL, CE

 MANUFACTURING LIASON:

  • Troubleshoot assembly of new designs.
  • Work with vendors on parts availability and cost reduction.
  • Understand Quality Control procedures, testing, and frequency*

 Some travel, occasionally international, required.

  • Design and analyze complex mechanical systems including drives, chassis and load handling systems

 EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing methods, welding, mechanical design and strength of materials
  • Ability to complete strength and failure analysis of steel plate fabrication designs
  • Experience evaluating, selecting and integrating components into complex mechanical designs
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications
